AFANA Needs Your Support! Fundraising Campaign Launched!

Over 28 years ago, three men had an idea for a fan-based organization to spread the word about Aussie rules in North America and improve TV coverage. Much has happened since then and we're still bringing new fans to the sport every day and TV coverage is now live, every match and every round. 

We need to move forward to better serve fans and to do that, we are launching a fundraising campaign. Our goal is to ultimately raise US$20,000 over the next 2 or so years. We'll start modestly with enough to get the effort underway, just US$3,000 before the end of this AFL season (but it would even better if we raise more! Donate button to the right!). Here's what we plan to do with that money (front page readers click on Read More): 

• Develop apps for Apple and Android smartphones.
  • Donors and beta testers will get one or two years use of the app and free upgrades at no charge with a minimum donation of $US20. (Note: in the future the app will have a modest annual charge to support future development.)
  • We envision the app to allow you to click through to AFL radio feeds, NEMBC programming (in Spanish or English primarily), our own podcast and partner podcasts, radio and TV schedules, and our library of photos and news articles. Social media content in app in future upgrades. We want to make this app truly useful to fans everywhere.
• Improve our website by making it faster and adaptable to more devices including phones and tablets and add new features. 
• Fund our future development through the annual fees for use of the app in future seasons. This will reduce the need for future fundraising campaigns such as this one.
• Improve our service to Spanish and French-Canadian speaking fans in the Americas.
• Provide modest compensation for the costs incurred by our volunteer staff in both the Americas and in Australia. Our reporters and photographers donate large amounts of personal time and their own funds to bring you the reports and photos you see on our site. We want to at least help offset some of their costs with a modest honorarium. 
• In order to help us get underway, a longtime supporter of AFANA, K.M. has given us US$500 as seed money!
